And the last update of the university year, I made this a while ago and forgot to share it. The Salford Business School asked us to create animations, preferably without text, about business etiquette. The idea behind mine came from business people travelling to countries for meetings, and not knowing about the countries cultural differences when it came to things like, eating, travel, shaking hands, exchanging business cards etc. And so, the idea came around of creating an information card that moved.. In the style of airplane safety guides, as these business people are likely to see this style when they’re travelling, and so it all links into a part of their travel experience.

Social Media Strategy animation explaining how the campaign would work.

The campaign starts with the posters and videos, these take people to the social networking sites, where they see status’, tweets, images, information etc.. and the audience then provide feedback back into the campaign, via comments, likes, shares, retweets, tweets, and their own images and videos to become a part of the campaign.

The campaign really works at trying to involve their audience, in such a way that they could be involved in the actual exhibition. Having a chance of being involved in a music exhibition would also gain a lot more attention and interest, as it’s something that’s not done often.

Whilst making the 3D animation of the robot.. I also had a social media campaign project going on. I’ve posted about it before, but I’ll summarise.. I chose to use a brief that’d been set for our course a few years ago, and bring it up to date by creating a social media campaign for the BME (British Music Experience) in London. The campaign was to gain recognition and interested about a new (made-up) exhibition called ‘Guilty Pleasures’. The campaign gained interest via print and motion based media. It started with the posters - above - which would be posted around London, mainly on transport services. I chose the transport services, as according to the BME’s Facebook Insights, they were reaching mainly 18-34yr olds. Even though this is quite a large range of people, I wanted it to be able to reach more. People of all ages use public transport, and it’s always extremely busy, so it seemed the perfect place.

The posters are eye catching and feature the characters in the video advertisements. With #GuiltyPleasure standing out, encouraging people to search for the hashtag and use it. They also include links to Facebook, Twitter and the BME website for more information.

And the final animation! Watch in HD :) And ignore the colourful window, rendering went a little bit wrong but I had no time to change it before the hand in, so it’ll have to do! It’s not all that noticeable anyway and I’m pretty chuffed with it, especially considering the amount of time it’s taken!

I’d also like to point out that the videos are not of professional quality, as part of the campaign is to ask people to upload their ‘guilty pleasure’ videos and they’re obviously not expected to be professional, so I wanted to appeal to the audience in the same way.

Update on the 3D character design project! My character’s pretty much built, just needs tweaking here and there and then finishing off. He has a Go-Pro camera for a head, and a big lens on his body to capture all the extreme sports he can do.
